Position SummaryWe are seeking dependable
Directional Drill Laborers to support underground fiber-optic construction projects in Florida.
This position will work alongside HDD drill operators, locators, and supervisors on
Sedulous Broadband LLC projects utilizing Hexatronic conduit and microduct systems.
The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable performing physically demanding outdoor construction work.
Responsibilities
- Assist the HDD drill operator and locator during daily drilling operations.
- Load, unload, and organize tools, conduit, microduct, and construction materials.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down the drill and job site.
- Dig, expose, and pothole existing underground utilities as directed.
- Assist with handhole and utility box installation.
- Help pull conduit and microduct through completed bores.
- Connect, handle, and stage conduit for pullback operations.
- Perform trenching, digging, backfilling, and general excavation work.
- Assist with job-site restoration, including soil, grass, gravel, and disturbed areas.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Help inspect and maintain tools and equipment.
- Follow instructions from the Foreman, Drill Operator, Locator, and project supervisors.
- Follow all company, OSHA, utility, and project safety requirements.
- Immediately report damaged utilities, unsafe conditions, or equipment problems.
- Assist with traffic control and job-site safety when required.
- Work as part of the crew to meet daily production goals without sacrificing safety or quality.
QualificationsRequired:
- Ability to perform physical outdoor construction work.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull construction materials and equipment.
- Ability to work in heat, humidity, mud, rain, and changing Florida weather conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely around heavy equipment.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
- Willingness to work early mornings, extended days, and Saturdays when required.
- Ability to work well as part of a crew.
Preferred:
- Previous underground utility, fiber-optic, telecommunications, landscaping, excavation, or construction experience.
- Experience with directional drilling crews.
- Experience installing handholes, conduit, or microduct.
- Experience with shovels, compactors, trenching equipment, and other construction tools.
- Valid driver's license.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
Physical RequirementsCandidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, dig, lift construction materials, and work around active equipment and traffic.

ScheduleThis is a full-time field position. Candidates should be prepared for:
- Early morning starts
- Full-time outdoor work
- Extended workdays when necessary
- Occasional Saturday work
- Travel between assigned Florida job sites
- Changing locations as construction progresses
