Summary

The School of Media and Communication is seeking two undergraduate students to support a Honda AI+X Seed Grant project focused on developing and evaluating an AI-assisted reporting tool for BG Falcon Media. The RAs will support the newsroom side of the project through interviews with student journalists, qualitative data analysis, tool testing and evaluation, and preparation of project findings.

Essential Functions

  • Recruit and interview approximately 10-12 current and former BG Falcon Media reporters and editors.
  • Assist with transcribing and coding interview data and identifying requirements for the AI tool.
  • Test the tool against Falcon Medias editorial standards and reporting practices.
  • Help develop and facilitate evaluation sessions with student journalists.
  • Contribute to the final project report and Honda AI+X Showcase.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled BGSU undergraduate student.
  • Interest in journalism, media, communication research, or AI.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with student journalism, qualitative research, or AI tools is helpful but not required.
