    Position Information: The Environmental Education Certificate at Eastern Oregon University is designed to equip formal and nonformal educators, natural resources professionals, and community leaders with the knowledge and skills to provide engaging and meaningful outdoor learning experiences with youth. The program is applicable for educators coming from a variety of contexts including, but not limited to, K-12 classrooms, outdoor schools, school gardens and farms, after school programs, and outdoor field days. The certificate emphasizes developing effective and inclusive outdoor teaching practices at both the instructional and programmatic level for diverse audiences. An adjunct position for one of these courses will be responsible for meeting the course and certificate outcomes with their instruction.

    The College of Education at Eastern Oregon University is currently seeking applicants

    for a part-time, adjunct to teach in undergraduate and graduate teacher licensure and

    certificates programs.

    Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality teaching, and be effective in integrating technology into instruction. Candidates should possess the ability to work collaboratively and productively with students, staff, faculty, and administration, fostering a positive and inclusive educational environment. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential, enabling the candidate to engage meaningfully with a diverse community.

    The candidate brings relevant life experience, education, and/or training in supporting students with a wide range of needs, ensuring that all learners are valued and supported. Additionally, they have demonstrated experience, education, or training in Environmental Education, enriching the curriculum with knowledge and practices that promote environmental awareness.

    Experience in designing and delivering educational or training sessions is required, including expertise in planning, curriculum development, and assessment. This background ensures the candidate can create effective, engaging, and measurable learning experiences for all students.

    Responsibilities

    Teaching responsibilities will vary depending on the specific course the adjunct instructor

    is qualified to teach. For the EVED courses within the Environmental Education certificate, collaboration amongst other adjuncts for continuity and scaffolding is required.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Education, Natural Resources, Science, or related field.
    • Three years' experience in educational systems (formal and/or nonformal).
    • Demonstrated life experience, education, and/or training in environmental educational
    • Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality teaching, and be effective in integrating technology into instruction.
    • Valid work authorization documents are required
    • Satisfactorily complete a background check

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Teaching and or learning through an online learning management system
    • College teaching experience in K-12 Teacher Education Preparation Program
    • Experience with an outdoor educational program
    • Demonstrated life experience, education, and/or training in promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through work with historically marginalized populations.
