PELTA Protective Specialists is seeking professional, dependable, and detail-oriented Unarmed Retail Security Specialists to support grocery retail locations throughout Dayton, Ohio.
The ideal candidate will maintain a visible and professional security presence, conduct routine patrols, help deter theft, identify safety concerns, and contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors.
This position requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to communicate effectively. Specialists are expected to observe, deter, and report suspicious activity while following all company and store policies.

Conduct random interior and exterior patrols to help prevent theft and identify hazards.
Maintain a visible, professional security presence throughout the store and surrounding property.
Interact professionally with customers, vendors, and store associates; provide assistance when needed.
Observe, deter, and report suspected shoplifting or suspicious activity. Do not detain, pursue, or question suspected shoplifters.
Report all incidents and suspicious activity to store management and Asset Protection.
Respond to hazards, accidents, and emergencies; provide aid within the scope of training and notify management.
Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts. Use force only when necessary for self-defense or to protect against imminent danger, consistent with applicable law and company policy.
Complete incident reports and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain professionalism at all times, including appropriate appearance, avoiding distractions, and maintaining professional boundaries.
Follow all store policies, including equipment restrictions, communication protocols, and shift procedures.
This role requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to adapt to the operational needs of assigned grocery retail locations.
Specialists may work independently or alongside other security personnel and store teams. Employees must remain alert, follow post orders, and maintain consistent communication with supervisors and designated store contacts.
Schedules may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, overnight shifts, and holidays, depending on client needs.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
Prior security, military, law enforcement, retail, loss prevention, or customer service experience preferred.
Veterans and candidates with relevant professional experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Employees must have reliable transportation to travel to assigned grocery retail locations throughout their coverage area.
