Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the processing and timely delivery of the Health System's payroll. The Payroll Specialist uses an understanding of the Health System's in-house timekeeping and payroll systems to accurately pay Caregivers in compliance with state and federal agencies and regulations, such as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) rules and regulations. The Payroll Specialist helps to assure proper tax treatment, accounting and disposition of withholdings such as taxes, deductions for benefits, retirement contributions, court ordered and other voluntary deductions. The Payroll Specialist exercise independent judgement and discretion in planning and carrying out the details of work procedures and methods.

Job Requirements
General Requirements • Payroll certification through the American Payroll Association - preferred Work Experience • See Education section • Three or more years of progressive payroll experience with an automated timekeeping and HR/Payroll system - preferred • Payroll experience with a multi-entity employer or large Health System - preferred • Experience with Infor/Lawson software, specifically the HR/Payroll module - preferred • Experience with Kronos Workforce Solutions - preferred Education • Associates degree or two years of payroll experience with an automated timekeeping and HR/Payroll system. Specialized Knowledge and Skills • General knowledge of state and federal tax, payroll and reporting requirements. • General knowledge of accounting principles and pay methods. • Strong spreadsheet and Microsoft Office skills. • Strong customer service and inter-personal skills. • Strong work ethic and team player. • Strong mathematical aptitude. • Ability to communicate with various levels of management. • Decision making, problem solving and analytical skills. • Organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills. • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
