Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a UI/UX Designer 3. The work will be done hybrid in Chillicothe (Mossville), Illinois, with 2–3 days per week onsite. Candidates must be local to the area and able to transition to full-time onsite if required. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $61/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer with a strong focus on UX research to support the design of next-generation machine display and operator experiences. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to conduct user research, develop interaction concepts, and create UX artifacts that drive intuitive, safe, and efficient human-machine interfaces. The ideal candidate combines strong research methodologies with UI design expertise and can translate complex user needs into actionable design recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and synthesize usability testing, field research, and prototype evaluations into prioritized UX recommendations.
  • Translate operator, customer, and business needs into intuitive interaction concepts and user experiences.
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to define and validate prototype requirements.
  • Create and maintain UX deliverables including user journeys, task flows, storyboards, experience maps, and research documentation.
  • Prioritize UX research activities based on product roadmaps while documenting UX strategy and design guidance for downstream development teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, User Experience, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional UX research experience, preferably in a corporate or B2B environment.
  • Strong understanding of UX research methodologies, qualitative and quantitative research, and user-centered design principles.
  • Experience integrating user research into product design decisions and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with UI layout, prototyping, and UX design tools.
  • Portfolio demonstrating UX research process, design thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organization, stakeholder management, and data storytelling skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting Human-Machine Interface (HMI) research.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in automotive, heavy equipment, industrial, or related industries.
  • Experience creating enterprise UX strategies and documenting design systems or interaction frameworks.
