Position description
The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach online courses in our Human Resource Management program for upcoming openings.
This program helps students and working professionals develop practical skills in talent acquisition, employee engagement, organizational behavior, compensation and benefits, employment law, HR technology, and people analytics. Courses emphasize applied learning and real-world workplace scenarios that prepare students to support and lead modern workforce initiatives.
We seek instructors who bring substantial professional experience in human resource management, organizational development, talent management, HR compliance, or workforce analytics and who are interested in helping students develop practical skills relevant to today's evolving workplace.

Instructor duties include but are not limited to:

The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track, academic positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department. Appointments are offered on a course-by-course basis, and appointment length is based upon course section schedule(s). Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
A bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, organizational psychology, industrial relations, or a related discipline, or a relevant professional HR credential (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in human resource management or a closely related field.
Preferred qualifications
Master's degree in HR, business administration, organizational development, or a related discipline or 5+ years of HR experience
Prior teaching, training, or corporate facilitation experience
Experience using Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle, or similar) or willingness to learn
Professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
HR strategy or HR operations
Talent acquisition and workforce planning
Employee relations and organizational development
Compensation, benefits, or total rewards
Employment law and workplace compliance
HR technology systems or people analytics
Learning, training, or leadership development"
