    UCALL (Union College Academy for Lifelong Learnings) is looking for students interested in being a classroom tech/troubleshooter for hybrid classes as well as helping run their social media accounts. Commitment is ~7 hrs/week for 5 weeks per term.

    Location: Either Reamer Auditorium or College Park Hall

    Supervisor: Emma Schreiner

    Hours/Shifts Available: ~7 hours/week (for 5 weeks per semester)*; Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday

    • Morning Shift: 9:15 AM – 11:30 AM

    • Afternoon Shift: 12:45 PM – 3:00 PM

    • Social Media: 2 hours/week (flexible, do it whenever it fits your week!)

    Rate of Pay: $9.70/hr

    Number of available positions: 2

    *Fall semester dates run from Oct 1st-Nov 12th, Tues, Weds, Thurs

    Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

    Union College Academy for Lifelong Learning (UCALL) offers fun, non-credit courses and lectures to local adult learners. Our members are friendly, curious, and excited to learn!

    They love having a helpful student in the room to keep things running smoothly.

    You’ll be our go-to classroom tech person for hybrid classes (in-person + Zoom) and help run our social media:

    • Get Things Running: Show up 15 minutes early (9:15 AM or 12:45 PM) to turn on classroom AV, set up the projector/mics, and start the Zoom call.

    • Run the Zoom & Chat: Host the 2-hour class on Zoom, keep an eye on the chat for audio/video issues, and help online attendees.

    • On-the-Spot Tech Help: Fix minor glitches during class (screen sharing, mic volume, projector connections) and answer basic tech questions for speakers or members.

    • Manage the Facebook Page (~2 hrs/wk): Post class photos, event updates, and reminders to keep our members connected.

    Qualifications:

    • Zoom Mastery: Comfortable hosting/moderating Zoom (managing chat, screen sharing, muting, pinning speakers).

    • Basic Hardware Setup: Experienced with HDMI/USB-C laptop hookups, projector connections, and audio/AV settings.

    • Basic Facebook Skills: Able to create simple posts, upload photos, and engage with followers. Basic experience with e.g. Canva for social media graphics.

    • Punctual, reliable, and comfortable assisting retirees

    Basic AV and IT training will be provided before you start.
