    Wareham Public Schools seeks Tutors for the following: In-Person and Virtual Student Support

    We are seeking caring, dependable tutors to work with students who are temporarily unable to attend school in person. Tutors will support students with and without special needs through individualized academic instruction, encouragement, and consistent communication with families and school teams.

    Tutoring may take place in an approved community setting, or virtually, depending on the student's needs and family preference.

    Position Details:

    • Hours: Approximately 5-10 hours per week per student
    • Schedule: Flexible; arranged based on student and tutor availability
    • Format: In-person and/or virtual
    • Students: School-age students with and without special needs
    • Subjects: May include reading, writing, math, study skills, homework support, and other academic areas
    • Location varies by student assignment

    Responsibilities

    • Provide individualized academic instruction and tutoring
    • Follow the student's educational goals, learning plan, and accommodations
    • Adapt lessons and instructional strategies to meet each student's learning style and needs
    • Support students with organization, study skills, confidence, and academic engagement
    • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment
    • Communicate regularly with families and appropriate school or program staff
    • Track student progress and provide brief session notes or updates
    • Use virtual learning platforms effectively when providing online instruction

    Qualifications:

    • Valid Massachusetts DESE Teaching Certificate
    • Experience tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or working with school-age students
    • Experience working with students with special needs is preferred
    • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
    • Patience, flexibility, reliability, and a student-centered approach
    • Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate learning activities
    • Relevant education, teaching certification, or subject-matter expertise preferred
    • Ability to pass required background checks and meet applicable safety requirements
    • For in-person assignments, reliable transportation may be required
