    Description

Turnaround Materials Kitting & Logistics Specialist

    Location: Orange, TX
    Project: Hydrocarbons Turnaround
    Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time
    Anticipated Start: ASAP

    A day in the life

You start with a safety huddle and a pre-op inspection on your sit-down forklift. Overnight deliveries are waiting, so you receive them in SAP, verify counts, and move them to clearly marked laydown zones. Your focus is building complete, labeled kits for critical-path jobs and Critical Reliability Equipment (CRE) work. You tag each kit, update its status in SAP in real time, and position it in the correct satellite staging area so field crews never wait.

Before lunch, you run quick physical checks against SAP reservations to catch any shortages early. Using a handheld scanner and tablet, you maintain chain-of-custody and precise location tracking. You keep staging areas neat, barricaded, and clearly demarcated—pulling obsolete or scrap materials out of circulation the moment plans change.

As the shift winds down, you turn in staging logs to the Turnaround Coordinator, reconcile updates with the Material Status Report (MSR), and document any risks, late trucks, or field constraints to brief Planners, Coordinators, and Maintenance Supervisors for the next shift.

    What you’ll handle

    • Operate approved sit-down forklifts and material handling equipment to receive, move, stage, and distribute piping, valves, and industrial components across plant laydown and satellite areas.
    • Build, verify, tag, and deliver complete kits aligned to the daily turnaround schedule and CRE priorities.
    • Keep staging zones clean, organized, barricaded, and clearly labeled; promptly remove returns, obsolete items, and scrap.
    • Execute SAP transactions (goods receipts, staging movements, kit completion, field transfers) with real-time accuracy.
    • Perform routine counts against SAP reservations to identify discrepancies before work reaches the field.
    • Capture electronic chain-of-custody and location updates via handheld scanners, tablets, and mobile inventory tools.
    • Maintain end-of-shift paperwork; reconcile against the MSR; escalate delivery risks and constraints at shift handoff.
    • Support closeout: reconcile inventory, process RTI (return-to-inventory), vendor returns, and surplus scrap; clear conexes and restore staging racks to baseline.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • SAP: 1–2 years hands-on experience tracking materials, processing reservations, and updating locations.
    • Forklift: Proven sit-down forklift operation in plant/yard/heavy industrial settings (current cert or ability to recertify on site).
    • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (sorting, filtering, tracking) and mobile/handheld warehouse devices.
    • Organization: Detail-focused with a track record of reconciling physical inventory to work orders and manifests.
    • Safety: Consistent PPE use, adherence to site standards, and pre-operational equipment inspections.

    Preferred

    • Turnaround/shutdown/outage experience in petrochemical, chemical, or refining environments.
    • Knowledge of industrial equipment, piping specs, gaskets, structural steel, and specialty valves.
    • Experience with MSR, BOM reviews, and field kitting workflows.

    Working conditions

    • Industrial chemical/refinery setting; outdoor work in variable Texas weather near operating units.
    • Ability to safely lift, push, and position up to 50 lbs.
