Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney

I'm working with a well-respected Chicago law firm that's growing and adding an experienced Trusts and Estates Associate. You'd handle sophisticated estate, tax, wealth, and business succession planning for mid to high-net-worth individuals and families. The role becomes hybrid after your first 60-90 days.

What you'll do:

- Handle estate and tax planning for mid to high-net-worth individuals and families, including income tax, transfer tax, and charitable planning

- Advise on pass-through entities (LLCs and LPs) and business succession planning

- Draft basic and sophisticated estate planning documents, including tax planning documents, irrevocable trusts, and business planning documents

- Counsel fiduciaries on estate and trust settlement and administration

- Participate in in-person and virtual client meetings

What you'll bring:

- JD and admission to the Illinois Bar; law review experience preferred

- 4-7 years of experience in a similar role, law firm, or direct estate planning

- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or tax; LL.M. or CPA in tax preferred but not required, MBA a plus

- Strong research, writing, organization, and client relationship skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook; SmokeBall experience a plus

- Ability to manage numerous projects and work extended hours during peak periods
