Truck Mechanic

General Description
n
Under general direction of Lead Mechanic and Equipment Operations Manager, the Diesel Mechanic will perform general mechanical work in repair and maintenance of diversified automotive and construction/asphalt equipment. Employee repairs and services vehicles and other motorized equipment in the field. Performs related work as required.

Key Duties
n
Responsible to support all equipment maintenance operations within Company/Project to include:
n
n
- Actively participates in our Safety 1st

- Demonstrates safety 1st attitude

- Identifies and turns in near miss reports
n
- Speaks up when sees unsafe act
n

n
n
- Ensure all local laws, regulations, Eurovia rules and Group policies are in compliance.
n
- Understands and obeys all DOT regulations as it pertains to mechanic truck operation
n
- Has passed certified basic mechanics skills testing.
n
- Performs routine and advanced maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
n
- Performs DOT brake repairs on commercial vehicles.
n
- Repair power train components such as engine, transmission, differentials, PTO systems, transfer cases, hydraulic motors and pumps and all other auxiliary drive components.
n
- Inspects and troubleshoots starting and charging systems.
n
- Diagnose suspension system problems such as vehicle alignment, springs and chassis mounting systems.
n
- Troubleshoots electrical components such as gauges, sending units, relays, lighting systems and solenoids.
n
- Inspect, repair and or replace track suspension systems and components, such as rails, bushings, idlers, and sprocket segments, rollers and track shoes.
n
- Performs expert repairs on material handling equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
n
- Maintains a clean work area, sweeps floors, removes oil and grease spills and performs other general custodial work, as required.
n
- Maintains assigned vehicle and equipment.
n
- Maintains personal tools and company owned tools.
n
- Accurately completes all associated forms such as inspection records, time sheets, and work orders
n
- Demonstrates team attitude, and works to attain individual, division and company goals
n
n

Qualification Requirements
n
n
- General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. - Education and Experience. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Field Mechanic.

- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
n
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management, fellow employees and Owner.
n
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience is required. Valid driverxe2x80x99s license with satisfactory driving record required.
n
n
n
n
- Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Field Mechanic to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
n
n
- Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
n
- Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools.
n
- Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and, at times, as much as 90 pounds, as may be assigned.
n
- Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, lumber and other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools.
n
- Physical dexterity involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions.
n
- Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
n
- Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
n
- Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
n
- Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 15 feet in depth, using ladders or crawling, as required.
n
- Sufficient skill and visual acuity, under varying degrees of light, darkness, and weather conditions, to provide direction and flagging for operators of cranes with rated capacities of up to 300 tons.
n
- Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
n
n
n
n
- Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Field Mechanic encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
n
- Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that are typically associated with a construction project.
n
- Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
n
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete.
