    Description

    Schedule/Hours: Part time up to 29 hours/week

    This position is responsible for:

    Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.

    Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards.

    Key Responsiblilties:

    • Receives, inspects, sorts, and processes donated merchandise according to category and condition, selecting items for sale and discarding unsuitable items per established procedures.
    • Tags, prices, hangs, and prepares merchandise for display, storage, or further processing, including packing and labeling items for transport.
    • Operates and supports donation processing activities, including preparing non-salable items for baling, moving merchandise, and assisting with donation pickups as needed.
    • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and work area by cleaning floors, tables, and processing spaces.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Reliable attendance and the ability to communicate effectively in English.
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing 25-50 lbs. regularly and over 50 lbs. occasionally.
    • Ability to perform physically demanding work involving frequent standing, walking, stooping, climbing, and operating warehouse equipment, including a thrift store lift.
    • Ability to become certified to operate Salvation Army vehicles and work in a warehouse environment with varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and dirt.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    No formal education required, and

    six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture, or

    any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    Valid State Driver's License
