TRUCK DRIVER
Sports Basement is hiring a Truck Driver who will work from the San Ramon.
Reports to: Sr. LY Manager and the Director of Operations.
Compensation: $24-30 an hour, non-exempt position. Specific starting wages are dependent on location and experience.
Full Description Summary:
Sports Basement is expanding our Logistics Team and is in search of a qualified Truck Driver. The primary responsibility of this role is the operation, organization, and maintenance scheduling for the truck. You will transport goods and materials safely and efficiently from store to store. Drivers are responsible for making sure customer, store, and company products arrive at their destination safely, organized, and on time. Our Transfer Truck hubs are located at our San Ramon and Santa Rosa locations. You will report directly to the San Ramon or Santa Rosa General Manager or Director of Operations and will be working with the Receiving Teams of nearly every store. You will get to drive all over the Bay Area delivering goods! Depending on the needs of the company, other duties may be assigned from time to time.
What you'll do
Truck Duties and Operations
- Check in and out with the Receiving/Rental department before departure, and assist with loading/unloading as needed.
- Accommodate or make arrangements for receiving/MODs when something unexpected comes up.
- Check every stop for mail or other special pick-ups.
- Perform a pre and post-drive inspection of the truck, including fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, fuel, etc. You will document a DVIR (Driver’s vehicle inspection report) and communicate issues to the proper personnel.
- Ensure, load and unload goods and materials from origin to destination, store to store, following routes and schedules.
- Perform your job SAFELY, including driving, loading and unloading, and securing the truck cargo area.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations and safety procedures.

- Effectively manage and communicate with on-truck support and/or other drivers on your route. (Weekday and/or weekend drivers)
- Willing to learn new things and new ways to contribute to the success of your role specifically, and the company in general.
Qualifications
- Valid Class C license required. At least 1 year and in good standing.
- Previous driving experience, preferably with long-haul experience.
- Preserve a good driving record.
- Be able to show proof of insurance.
- Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
- Basic computer skills.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the ability to identify and report mechanical issues.
