TRUCK DRIVER

The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of merchandise from the Vernon Distribution Center to all JONS Fresh Marketplace retail locations. This position requires excellent time management, strict adherence to DOT safety regulations, and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards. The driver will operate commercial 18-wheeler vehicles in compliance with federal safety requirements, load and unload merchandise safely, verify product accuracy at delivery locations, and maintain comprehensive delivery documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate commercial 18-wheeler vehicles safely and professionally, driving up to 13 hours per day while observing Federal Hours of Service regulations
• Transport merchandise from the Vernon Distribution Center to assigned JONS retail locations according to established delivery schedules
• Read maps and delivery instructions to navigate routes efficiently.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report maintenance needs immediately.
• Load and unload merchandise safely, including lifting up to 100 pounds and pulling up to 3,500 pounds with a manual pallet jack.
• Verify product accuracy with store receivers on all deliveries (except produce).
• Maintain accurate delivery logs and timesheets in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Interact professionally with store management and staff at all delivery locations.
• Always maintain vehicle cleanliness and proper organization of cargo.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Current DOT medical certification.
• Clean driving record with no major violations.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience.
• Excellent communication and safety skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in grocery or retail distribution.
• Experience with refrigerated (reefer) trailers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle (up to 13 hours daily).
• Ability to lift and carry merchandise weighing up to 100 pounds regularly.
• Ability to pull up to 3,500 pounds using a manual pallet jack.
• Sufficient physical mobility and agility to respond quickly to road emergencies.
