Description
Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a part-time (50% FTE) TRIO Program Assistant at the Walla Walla campus.

General Responsibilities:
The Program Assistant performs general administrative support for a federal grant-funded program that serves first-generation, low-income and students with disabilities (TRIO Student Support Services) for both the Walla Walla and Clarkston campuses. The position is located on the Walla Walla campus and reports to the Director of TRIO Student Support Services.
Essential Functions:
Administrative duties and recordkeeping
Process new student applications for TRIO:
Review for eligibility and completeness per grant requirements,
Determine eligibility and evaluate for criteria of numbers of participants to serve per each eligibility
Manage student database for participants, including recording and updating student files/records, record student attendance in TRIO activities
Budget and purchasing duties, including initiating purchasing requests and submitting monthly budget forms through ctcLink (college management system)
Produce reports from multiple database management systems (e.g. Student Access, ctcLink, National Student Clearinghouse)
Manage TRIO inventory, including coordinating textbook and technology loan program for student study materials
Assist with advertising and organization of TRIO activities (family nights, year-end event, career focus sessions, campus visits, workshops, etc.)
Promote events through TRIO communication streams
Coordinate with Marketing department for program materials, including social media
Organization of facilities and refreshments for TRIO events
Coordinates website updates with webmaster
Clerical duties
Directs the activities of the work study student (or student worker)

Conditions/Terms of Employment
This classified position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative.
This position typically works 20 hours per week Monday-Friday. Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in an office environment. General office and computer equipment will be used daily. This front-line position interacts with the public regularly, as well with other departments such as: Financial Aid, Admissions, Student Success (Advising and Counseling/WES), Foundation, Administration, Business Services, Library, IT and Institutional Research to fulfill duties and tasks as needed. Environment can be fast-paced at times, especially during advising.
The college has an excellent benefit program including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; and retirement plan. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) unless declined at time of hire. Eligibility
Permanent, seasonal and part-time employees as determined by WAC 182-12-114. Benefits also cover spouse or State-Registered Domestic Partner (SRDP), and qualifying dependents.
Effective date of coverage
First day of the month following your date of employment. If the date of employment is the first working day of the month, coverage begins on that date.
Medical Plan Monthly Costs
Employees pay their portion of medical care costs through payroll deduction. The employee premium is based on the choice of plan and elected coverage for spouse or SRDP, and dependent children.

The FSA and DCAP plans are optional plans offered by the College and the State of Washington. They are calendar year, pre-tax, spending programs you can use to set aside money for eligible expenses. Both plans are offered as payroll deductions and are administered by Navia Benefit Solutions.
The FSA allows you to use pre-tax money to pay for certain out-of-pocket medical expenses. RETIREMENT OPTIONS
Eligible employees participate in a Washington state-sponsored retirement plan through one of two administrators: the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) or the Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association (TIAA). DRS administers the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) and the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) plans. TIAA administers the State Board Retirement Plan (SBRP).

Vacation, sick leave and personal leave benefits are available and determined by a collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the college and WPEA, the exclusive bargaining representative.
REDUCED TUITION WAIVER PROGRAM
Employees can take most credit and non-credit classes at a reduced cost when space is available and certain conditions are met.
Credit classes
Permanent classified, faculty, adjunct faculty and administrative employees of WWCC may take almost any credit class on a space-available basis if requirements and prerequisites have been met. The basic cost is $5.00, plus any fees associated with that class. Hourly and probationary employees are not eligible for this reduced tuition.
