Tri-County Intermediate School Special Education Instructional Assistant

Key Performance Responsibilities:

• Assists with supervision of students as assigned.
• Performs instructional tasks with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher. Duties may include small group, large group, one to one student assistance or other such duties/ assignments as determined by certified staff or building administrator.
• Must approach tasks in a pleasant, cooperative and positive manner.
• Practice patience and tenacity under trying conditions with students.
• Keep school matters confidential.
• Performs assigned supervision of students.
• Alert the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Assist with ensuring full implementation of instructional modifications and accommodations for students with IEP's.
• Adapt to students and their unique learning styles.
• Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality to assigned duties.
• Work with others, such as therapists, counselors, social workers, job coaches and other instructional assistants.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times in appearance and attitude.
• Attend appropriate staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary or assigned by the building administrator or supervising teacher. Maintain training and certifications as required for the position.
• Serves as a chief source of information and help to any guest teacher assigned in the absence of the regular certified staff.
• Other duties as assigned by administration and/or supervisor.
