BrightView Tree Care Services is currently seeking an experienced Tree Care Operations Manager to lead and oversee daily operations, tree trimming services, manage crews and ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality execution of pruning, tree removals, plant health care and all other aspects of tree care work.
Job Summary:
- Perform Tree Care Client site inspections to identify and determine necessary Arboricultural recommendations and scope of work.
- Hands-on service experience, knowledge of palms, shade/ornamental/native trees and shrubs.
- Lead team of 20+ employees, coordinating duties, scheduling and ensuring adherence to safety standards (BrightView, OSHA, ANSI Z-133 Standards).
- Working knowledge of ANSI A-300 Tree Care Standards including: Crown Cleaning, Crown Thinning, Crown Raising, Crown Reduction and Palm Pruning.
- As necessary, perform hands-on work to meet work and schedule demands.
- Conducted advanced tree risk assessments and recommended necessary pruning, cabling/bracing, or removal to mitigate hazards.
- As necessary, use a Stump Grinder.
- Managed client relationships and satisfaction for all Tree Care Projects through completion and generate repeat business.
- Successfully execute complex tree removals in confined spaces, including Grapple/Skid Steer removals, with a perfect safety record.
- Trained Junior Arborists and Ground Crew on proper ANSI A-300 Pruning Techniques, equipment operation, enhancing team efficiency and safety awareness.
- Performed expert-level pruning, including fine pruning, crown reduction, and canopy cleaning, to improve tree health and aesthetics.
- Operate and maintain a wide range of arboricultural equipment, including chainsaws, pole saws, power pruners chippers, stump grinders, and Bucket Trucks.
- Provided emergency tree service during severe weather events, including the removal of hazardous trees and large debris.
Safety & Rigging Operations:
- Aerial Rescue: Certified or highly proficient in standard ANSI Z133 aerial rescue protocols and emergency climber extraction.
- Work Positioning: Skilled in utilizing secondary lanyards, fliplines, and redirection techniques.
- Hazard Evaluation: Expert in performing pre-climb tree inspections, assessing root flares, detecting structural defects, and identifying electrical hazards (line clearance).
- Equipment Maintenance: Inspected and maintained specialized life-support equipment (PPE), including climbing lines, harnesses, friction hitch components, and mechanical devices, adhering strictly to ANSI Z133 safety standards.
- Climbing Systems: SRS/SRT, MRS/DRT, Spurless Climbing, Work Positioning Redirections
- Hardware Proficiencies: Mechanical friction devices, friction hitches, micro-pulleys, throwline deployment
- Safety & Regulations: ANSI Z133 Standards, Aerial Rescue, Job Site Hazard Analysis (JHA)
Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain, clean, and sharpen chainsaws, pole saws, and heavy-duty brush cutters to ensure optimal job-site safety and efficiency.
- Diagnosed and repaired small engine failures, hydraulic leaks, Bucket Truck operation in the field, minimizing project delays.
- Manage equipment maintenance logs and coordinated major repairs with certified mechanics.
- DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report): The official paperwork/digital log completed during inspections.
- Pre-Trip / Post-Trip Inspections including : Inspecting critical systems like brakes, tires, coupling devices, steering, and fluid levels.
- Preventative Maintenance and Identifying small issues before they become costly breakdowns.
- Component Checklist: Inspecting critical systems like brakes, tires, coupling devices, steering, and fluid levels.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a landscape or business-related field, or equivalent experience in a service-based industry
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the construction or landscaping industry
- Minimum 2-3 years of management experience within the landscape or service industry
- Qualified Applicator License (Pesticide or Fertilizer) preferred
- Certified Arborist (Preferred)
- Prescription Pruning Qualification (PPQ) (Preferred)
- CDL Class A or B (Preferred)
- TRAQ Qualified (Preferred)
- CTSP (Certified Tree Care Safety Professional) (Preferred)
- Single Rope Technique (SRT) or Double Rope Technique (DRT) (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, as well as company systems such as FSM, Arbor Notes, BrightPath, and MFP/WAR calls.
- Experience with mobile applications, including retrieving email, accessing and using mobile applications, taking, and sharing pictures
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving work environment.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to create and foster a team-oriented environment
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Ability to walk, bend, twist, and carry up to 50lbs
- Ability to traverse uneven surfaces on job sites for quality checks and inspections
- Must be able to travel within the branch territory to visit designated client properties
- Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur
Work Environment:
- Field-based role; will have regular office work
