    Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:

    The Department of the City Treasurer is seeking a Treasury Specialist-Collections I.
     

    Representative responsibilities include:

    • Research taxpayer claims of erroneous assessments.

    • Assist taxpayers with collecting necessary documents for assessments and submit finalized information to the Commissioner of Revenue office for final determination and adjustment.

    • Compile, review and execute the attachment of wages and bank accounts per Va. Code Sec. 58.1- 3952

    • compile, review and execute seizure warrants for distress sale to collect delinquent taxes.

    • Collect and enter data into City computer system ensuring confidentiality and security of personal and financial information.

    • Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less.

    Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications: High school or GED plus four (4) or more years of experience in recovery of delinquent taxes, accounts, or comparable work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a current and valid driver’s license. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

    VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
