Traveling Technician
Regional – No nights, no overnights
Pay: $17-$19/hour
Are you a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) looking to leverage your patient care experience in a specialized medical setting with predictable daytime hours and no heavy physical lifting?
We are seeking a compassionate, adaptable Traveling Optometric Technician to join a premier, multi-location eye care practice. In this role, you will bring stability and support to various clinic locations based on coverage needs, providing high-quality patient interaction without the physical strain or overnight shifts of traditional caregiving roles.
This position offers full training, paid travel expenses from your primary clinic location, and sponsored professional development to help you earn recognized certifications (CPO/CPOA).
Responsibilities:
- Guide patients through preliminary testing, obtain medical histories using your established patient-care communication skills, and assist clinical staff.
- Perform pre-testing and operate specialized equipment (OCT, Retinal Photography, Visual Fields) — complete training provided.
- Provide hands-on instruction for specialized care, including contact lens insertion and removal training.
- Maintain organized, sterile examination rooms and support clinical teams across high-volume environments.
- Travel between local practice locations to maintain coverage (drive time and mileage fully reimbursed from designated home clinic).
Skills & Qualifications:
- Prior CNA or patient-facing healthcare experience is highly preferred.
- Looking to transition out of physically strenuous tasks (no heavy lifting) and night/overnight rotations.
- Comfortable rotating between local clinic locations and working in fast-paced medical settings.
- Tech-friendly with basic computer literacy and eagerness to learn diagnostic imaging equipment and EHR charting systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and a calm presence under pressure.
- Prior optometric or optical experience is a plus, but not required.
Compensation:
- $17 - $19 per hour, depending on experience
- Mileage reimbursement
