Job Title: Traveling Maintenance Technician
Location: Port Lavaca, TX or Willing to Travel
Reports to: Project Superintendent
Salary Range: $20 - $25 Hourly DOE - Plus Per Diem

What You Will Do:
We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Traveling Maintenance Technician to support maintenance and reliability efforts across Formosa Plastics facilities, with primary focus at the Port Lavaca, Texas site. This role involves traveling to various locations to perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on critical equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Travel to assigned facilities to perform maintenance, repairs, and preventive tasks on industrial equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and piping issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and hands-on repairs on HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) systems and related process equipment.
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules and document work performed.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with local site teams during assignments and provide technical support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status.
- Assist with facility housekeeping, material handling, and other labor tasks when required.
- Participate in safety meetings and follow strict protocols including LOTO, confined space, and hot work permits.
What You Will Need (minimum qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or trade school preferred).
- Active TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently (up to 50-75% travel).
- Proven ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in chemical, plastics, or manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with HDPE systems is strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders/stairs, and work in varying conditions.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Bonus Points If You:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in pumps, valves, conveyors, extruders, and piping systems.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, welding, or plumbing.
- Familiarity with HDPE extrusion, piping, or process systems.
- Experience using CMMS for work orders and documentation.
- Prior experience at Formosa Plastics or similar chemical facilities is a plus.
