Per Diem + Hotel Paid| $22-$30/hr
TradeSTAR is actively hiring experienced Traveling Fiber Installers and Cable Pullers for a large-scale commercial project in the Abilene area. These positions are with a leading low-voltage contractor specializing in structured cabling, fiber backbone infrastructure, and commercial network deployments.
We are seeking technicians with hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, structured cabling, and commercial low-voltage environments who are comfortable traveling for project-based work.
Job Responsibilities
Install, route, and secure fiber optic backbone and horizontal cabling
Pull fiber through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, innerduct, and underground pathways
Install single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable
Dress and manage fiber in MDFs, IDFs, and telecommunications rooms
Terminate fiber using fusion splice and mechanical termination methods
Install and terminate fiber enclosures, LIUs, patch panels, and cassettes
Perform OTDR testing, power meter/light source testing, fiber certification, and troubleshooting
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, rack elevations, and pathway layouts
Install and support structured cabling systems including data cabling, backbone cabling, and rack/stack infrastructure
Label and document cable management per industry standards
Follow ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and commercial job site standards
Requirements
Experience pulling and installing commercial fiber optic cabling
Knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode fiber systems
Experience with fusion splicing and fiber termination preferred
Ability to work from prints, schematics, and cable schedules
Experience working in commercial construction environments
Ability to climb ladders, work lifts, and pull cable in large-scale facilities
Reliable transportation and basic industry tools required
Ability to travel for project assignments
Compensation & Benefits
$22-$30/hour depending on experience
