Emery Sapp & Sons is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Carpenter to join our construction team. This position is responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork used in concrete structures including bridges, box culverts, retaining walls, headwalls, foundations, and other civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has experience in concrete construction, form setting, blueprint reading, and working safely in a fast-paced heavy civil environment.
Responsibilities:
- Construct, install, and remove wood and metal formwork for concrete structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and layout plans.
- Measure, cut, and assemble materials to project specifications.
- Build forms for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, foundations, and drainage structures.
- Assist with the placement of reinforcing materials, embedded items, and anchor bolts.
- Ensure forms are properly aligned, braced, and secured prior to concrete placement.
- Strip and clean forms following concrete curing.
- Perform general concrete construction activities as needed.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to meet project schedules.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Assist with other construction-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in concrete form carpentry, heavy civil construction, or related construction trades preferred.
- Experience working on bridges, highways, drainage structures, or other concrete infrastructure projects preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of concrete forming systems, layout methods, and construction practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
