Job Title: X-Ray Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 5x8 Days with Rotating Call Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: Kansas Radiologic Technologist Licensure Certifications: BLS, ARRT Must-Have: - Experience with digital radiography (DR) - Some operating room (OR) experience - Ability to work independently - Experience assisting CT technologists with patient transfers Description: Unit notes include a hiring process that requires a profile review and an interview with the unit manager. The department has two X-ray rooms, two portables, and three C-arms. Technologists may need to cover outpatient imaging, emergency room, intensive care unit, and floor X-rays, as well as operating room and fluoroscopy duties if working days. Common imaging studies performed include general emergency room, ICU, and inpatient X-rays after 7 PM, with occasional surgery add-ons. The average number of X-ray studies per shift is between five and twenty, with occasional surgical imaging required. Electronic medical records are managed using EPIC, and the picture archiving and communication system is Synapse Fuji. The supervising radiology lead is responsible for overseeing staff in the department. Radiologists are in-house during the day from Monday to Thursday. Technologists are not required to start IVs. The department follows a set schedule, but flexibility and time-off requests are permitted. Weekend and holiday work is required depending on the shift. On-call duties include a response time of 30 minutes for Sunday nights. There is no provided dress code as scrubs must be provided by the technologist. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. The trauma level for this care setting is Level 3.
