Assignment Overview

Join the MedSurg Women's Care Unit as a Registered Nurse specializing in the care of postpartum, hysterotomy, and mastectomy patients along with general medical/surgical cases. Ideal candidates have strong experience in MedSurg, effective patient care strategies, and the ability to manage complex care regimens.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to MedSurg patients
  • Administer medications, including titratable drips such as heparin and insulin
  • Perform NG and foley catheter placement
  • Conduct blood administration following unit protocols
  • Coordinate with charge nurse and patient care techs to meet patient needs
  • Float to other general medical units as required

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active Illinois Nursing License or initiated application process
  • 2 years of experience in MedSurg
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS
  • Understanding of a drug-free campus policy and ability to pass a drug screen
  • Experience with NG placement, foley placement, blood admin, heparin, and insulin drips
