Registered Nurse - Urgent Care

Job Description

This position functions within the Urgent Care Department to provide assistance to patients and medical staff in an ambulatory care setting, responsible for the overall operation of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services in collaboration with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure high-quality care and efficient resource utilization.
  • Provide leadership and direction to clinic staff, ensuring the efficient operation of all clinic aspects including patient care and administrative functions.
  • Maintain medication inventory and supplies that are not managed by the Warehouse PAR system.
  • Conduct necessary quality control checks with Point of Care tests.
  • Document all care and services provided accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist providers and other staff as needed, anticipating the needs of individuals to ensure effective patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to serve as an effective resource for patients and clinic staff.

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of urgent care experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of the nursing process and its application in the working environment.
  • Familiarity with customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control principles.
  • Skills in conducting assessments, anticipating needs, and collecting specimens.
  • Proficiency in using medical equipment and computers.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.

Shift Information

Urgent care operates from 8 AM to 8 PM. Shifts may vary across days and hours. Holiday coverage is required.
