Job Title: Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Specialty: Vascular Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday-Friday Hours per Shift: 0800-1630 Experience: Six (6) months of related experience License: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Venous insufficiency experience Description: Responsible for diagnostic cardiac or vascular ultrasound that provides measurements and accurate images of cardiac structures. This information enables the physician to provide accurate diagnoses. Provides immediate feedback with preliminary reports of critical results to nurses and physicians, which is vital for life-saving treatment interventions. Assists the physician with studies and aids them in complex procedures, decreasing potential procedural risks. Procedures include TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement), SAVR (Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement), Tandem heart, Lariet procedures, and pseudoaneurysm compression. Demonstrates correct technique, efficiency, and judgment in performing advanced cardiac and/or peripheral vascular procedures. Performs adult and/or pediatric cardiac ultrasound procedures, including TEE and stress echo and/or can perform peripheral vascular procedures such as arterial, renal, and transcranial Doppler. Reviews pertinent patient data and reports before procedures. Operates necessary equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic recordings. Utilizes ancillary devices, including selected transducers and digital networking systems. Exercises appropriate judgment when notifying the reading physician of abnormal results, and evaluating findings reported to the cardiologist. Maintains proper documentation of data according to departmental and hospital policies. Accurately documents all procedures in the departmental tracking process. Processes charging and other necessary data efficiently and accurately. Collaborates in maintaining departmental efficiency and anticipates needs in equipment and supplies. Supports unit and hospital goals through quality assurance and educational activities. Maintains current competency and registry in the two specialty practices. Demonstrates initiative in personal and professional development. Maintains compliance with mandatory education standards. Participates in departmental quality assurance processes and national accreditation. Modifies behavior and performance to meet changing departmental goals. Complies with departmental policies. Maintains a clean environment and practices infection control. Promotes patient, visitor, and personnel safety while ensuring confidentiality. Collaborates effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Utilizes independent judgment in decision-making from diverse alternatives, subject to general review. Coordinates activities of others without supervision and leads in similar work performed. Works directly with patients and healthcare professionals in face-to-face interactions. Builds strong working relationships with individuals at the Director level or above. Possesses the ability to work independently and utilize critical thinking skills. Maintains excellent communication with surgeons, physicians, and other healthcare staff regarding ultrasound results. Serves in an on-call rotation after regular hours as needed.
