Job Title: Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Specialty: Vascular Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1830 - 0700) Experience: Six months of related experience License: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Vascular Ultrasound skills Description: Responsible for diagnostic cardiac or vascular ultrasound. Provides accurate images and measurements of cardiac structures to assist in diagnosis. Provides immediate feedback with preliminary reports of critical results to healthcare personnel. Assists physicians with studies and complex procedures to reduce procedural risks. Demonstrates correct technique, efficiency, and judgment in advanced cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures. Performs various cardiac ultrasound procedures including TEE and stress echo. Evaluates pertinent patient data and reports prior to procedures. Operates equipment effectively to obtain optimal diagnostic recordings. Exercises judgment in notifying physicians of abnormal results and reporting findings. Maintains proper documentation of data according to departmental policies. Documents all procedures accurately in departmental tracking processes. Processes charging and necessary data efficiently. Documents consistently and accurately in patient charts. Collaborates for the maintenance of departmental efficiency. Anticipates needs for equipment and supplies. Uses resources wisely for cost containment. Schedules patients efficiently. Supports unit and hospital goals through quality assurance and educational activities. Maintains current competency and registry in specialty practices. Demonstrates initiative in personal and professional development. Complies with mandatory educational standards. Participates in departmental quality assurance processes and accreditation. Modifies behavior and performance to meet changing goals. Maintains a clean environment and practices infection control. Promotes the safety of patients, visitors, and personnel. Ensures confidentiality of patient and corporate information. Collaborates effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Exhibits independent judgment in decision-making from diverse alternatives. Coordinates activities of others; leads others in the same work performed. Works directly with patients and healthcare professionals. Communicates effectively with surgeons, physicians, and other staff regarding ultrasound results. Serves in on-call rotation after regular business hours.
