Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/IMC RN for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of RN experience and WV or compact licensure.

Details

  • 5S Trauma Stepdown (IMC/PCU) unit with 25 floor beds, 6 step-down beds, and 6 peds beds
  • Multidisciplinary care for multi-system-injured trauma and surgical patients
  • Travelers not required to care for pediatric patients; may be utilized for floor beds only
  • Patient ratios: 1:5 on the floor and 1:3 in the step-down unit
  • Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 (7p-7a), including every other weekend
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • 36 or 48 hour contract options with 36 hours guaranteed
  • Orientation and start dates held every other Thursday
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active WV or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including 1 year in-specialty experience
  • BLS and ACLS certification required through AHA; CPI and fit test also required; TNCC preferred
  • Skills required include IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry, Level 1 trauma experience, and conscious sedation
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required
  • First-time travelers accepted if experienced in ICU or trauma

Additional Information

  • Deliver nursing care to multi-system trauma and surgical patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
  • Manager may cancel a shift once per two-week pay period if necessary
  • Blocked schedule requests may be accommodated
  • Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medically exempt; COVID vaccine not required
  • Scrub color required: royal blue/white for RNs
  • Free parking provided for travelers
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
  • Former CAMC permanent employees must wait 2 years from last worked date before returning as a traveler
  • Current employees of Vandalia Health System entities are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
