Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Trauma Stepdown RN for a night shift travel assignment at a Level 2 trauma center requiring TX or compact RN licensure and trauma/orthopedic experience.

Details

  • Surgical Trauma Stepdown unit (25 beds) on the 5th floor of the main building
  • Patient population includes trauma, bariatric, vascular, orthopedic, neuro/spine and general surgery post-op patients, along with GI bleed, PE, sepsis, and neurological diagnoses
  • May care for cardiac/telemetry patients including pre/post cath lab, CV surgery, and cardiac dysrhythmia cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:4, with a max of 1:5 for stepdown
  • EMR: Meditech
  • No on-call requirements
  • 13-week assignment, 7P-7A night shift
  • Floating required to other stepdown service lines including Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit
  • Q4 vital signs and patient assessments with continuous telemetry monitoring

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a stepdown/trauma setting required
  • Trauma or orthopedic experience preferred
  • Meditech EMR experience preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills required
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide care for post-surgical trauma patients requiring close monitoring and stepdown-level interventions
  • Manage patients on IV drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, and Nitroglycerin
  • Work within a Level 2 trauma center where 90% of inpatients are admitted through the ED
  • Join a team environment supported by charge RNs, techs, and secretarial staff on both day and night shifts
  • Ideal candidates are team players who are adaptable and communicate well under pressure
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; no local candidates accepted
