Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Trauma/Neuro ICU night shift position requiring CA RN licensure and dual trauma/neuro ICU background.

Details

  • Surgical/Trauma/Neuro ICU setting within a Level II Trauma Center
  • Patient population spans adolescents through geriatrics
  • 1:2 patient ratios
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Floating required within service line, including to an affiliated hospital approximately 15 minutes away
  • Advance notice given for any float assignments
  • Cerner EMR used

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required (EMSA not accepted)
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
  • Trauma and Neuro ICU experience required and must be clearly noted in work history
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC or TCAR
  • Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB
  • Recent Nursys report required
  • One supervisory reference required
  • Strict adherence to accurate and timely charting required due to extensive chart audits
  • Skilled in ventilator management, arterial/central line care, CRRT/CVVHD, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical care
  • Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, dysrhythmia management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun and stroke/TBI management preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care to complex trauma and neuro ICU patients including post-neurosurgical and spinal cord injury cases
  • Support multi-system organ failure management and renal replacement therapies
  • Participate in facility-specific orientation including a required 1-hour CA Harassment course
  • Complete non-billable training modules (approximately 4 hours) via Cornerstone, pre-start or during orientation
  • COVID vaccination required
  • All requested time off must be submitted prior to assignment start; no changes accepted afterward
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply if minimum requirements are met
