Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Transplant OR RN for a 13-week assignment requiring 2 years of strong transplant experience and an active IN or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Operating Room unit of a short-term acute care hospital
  • Unit solely performs abdominal transplant surgeries including kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral procedures
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend shifts preferred
  • On-call requirement of 40-60 hours per 6-week period
  • Float required to multi-specialty surgeries throughout the hospital and to affiliate hospitals nearby
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of strong transplant experience required, including kidney and liver experience
  • Regulatory Charting for Transplants certification required
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Perform circulating and scrub duties for abdominal transplant surgeries including kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral cases
  • Pediatric transplants are performed at an affiliated facility and are not part of this traveler role
  • Adhere to universal protocol, specimen handling, laser safety, and radiation safety procedures
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are accepted if they have strong 2 years of transplant experience
  • Indiana residents are not accepted as local candidates for this position
  • Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must complete a designated break to reset eligibility before starting a new assignment
