Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a Night Shift position. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The RN will primarily work in a MedSurg/Telemetry unit, providing care to patients with a variety of medical and surgical needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients in the MedSurg/Telemetry unit, managing care for individuals with surgical, orthopedic, and cardiac conditions.
• Implement and evaluate patient care plans, adjusting as necessary to meet the evolving needs of patients.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) therapies, including drips such as amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, and nitroglycerin.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including communicating patient status to physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Ensure proper use of electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation and patient monitoring.
• Float between the 300 unit and the main unit as needed, ensuring flexibility and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Telemetry or MedSurg setting.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Ability to work every other weekend and rotate holiday shifts with permanent staff.
• Strong assessment skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills for collaborative care with team members and patients.

Additional Information

• Shift: Nights, from 6 PM to 6 AM.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1 RN to 4 patients.
• Common diagnoses include surgical cases, orthopedic issues, cardiac procedures, sepsis, and respiratory distress.
• Orientation: 6 hours of floor-specific orientation provided.
• Scrub Color: Navy.
