Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring CA licensure, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification.
Details
- Acute care Telemetry unit (4W) with 31 beds (11 private, 10 semi-private)
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Cerner EMR used for charting
- 12-hour day shifts scheduled 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required, with weekend shifts falling on Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun depending on shift
- Travelers are first to float, potentially to MedSurg remote tele, MedSurg SW, ICU for tele MS holds, or ER holds
- Philips telemetry monitoring equipment used; must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
- Patients on CPAP or BiPAP managed in coordination with Respiratory Therapy
- In-house Hospitalist/Intensivist available with on-call after-hours coverage
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support with Omnicell
- Must report within 30 minutes if placed on call/standby
- 1-2 shift unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
- Patient population includes post-pacer, new onset afib/RVR, ICU step-down, surgical, urology (cystoscopy), oncology with cardiac monitoring needs, strokes, TBI, sepsis, and high-acuity cases
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
- Acute care hospital experience required
Additional Information
- Support staff includes a Shift Manager, Resource Nurse, and Nurse Aides (2 on days, 1 on nights)
- Scrub color is navy blue; scrub jackets and undershirts must also be navy, black, or white
- Travelers are expected to work into the permanent staff holiday rotation, covering 1 major and 1 minor holiday
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts over a 13-week assignment
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
