Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele float pool position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Float pool role within a Clinical Support Unit covering ED boarders, Med/Surg, and Telemetry across multiple regional hospitals (Boise, Meridian, Nampa)
  • Acute care setting with patients presenting postop, ortho, neuro, satellite tele, medical, and oncology diagnoses, as well as ED holds (CVA/TIA, chest pain, abdominal pain, CHF)
  • Nurse to patient ratios of 1:4 for ED holds and 1:5 for Med/Surg
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), with every other weekend required
  • No self-scheduling; block scheduling attempted but not guaranteed
  • Travelers are first to float and may be moved mid-shift to different units or facilities as needed
  • No call or standby requirements
  • RNs required to titrate drips including cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, and insulin
  • Charge nurse present on all units and shifts

Requirements

  • Active RN license (ID or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with cardizem, amio, and nitro required
  • ED holds experience preferred
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include floating across Med/Surg, Telemetry, and ED hold units at multiple facilities within the region, and may include 1:1 sitter duties
  • Facilities are approximately 20 minutes apart, all located near the interstate with easy access and parking
  • Assignment includes a meet and greet on day 1 followed by 3 shifts of inpatient orientation
  • Scrub color is flexible as long as attire is clean and professional
  • No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted
  • Holiday coverage filled based on need
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
  • Returning employees must be away from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
  • Support structure includes 7 assistant managers with one always on call 24/7 for rounding and check-ins
