Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This nursing position requires a blend of clinical expertise, patient care, and effective communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Details
- Shift Type: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule)
- Holidays: Work them in with permanent staff rotation
Unit Information
- Unit Type: MedSurg/Telemetry
- Unit Size: Divided into a 14-bed unit and a main unit with 44 beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Common Diagnoses:
- 300 Unit: Surgical, orthopedic, medical
- Main Unit: Cardiac-focused, including post-cath, post-pacemaker, post-PCI, TAVR, CABG, sepsis, respiratory distress
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage patients on telemetry using Phillips monitoring systems
- Administer medications and manage drips including amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed-rate insulin, nitroglycerin, and dopamine for renal dosing
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including on-call hospitalists or intensivists after hours
- Read telemetry strips and react accordingly
- Float between the 300 Unit and the main unit as necessary
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a telemetry or critical care setting
- Required Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Support Services
- Nurse Aides: Available on all shifts
- Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
- Pharmacy: Limited availability after hours; use Marian for after-hours needs
- Orientation: 6 hours of floor-specific orientation provided
