Description

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a night shift position at an inpatient medical unit in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Inpatient medical telemetry unit (Medical 6B) in a hospital setting
  • 32-bed unit serving medical, med-tele, and respiratory patient populations
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Patient ratios vary; nights are approximately 1:6–1:7
  • Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, and tube feeding pumps
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Floating required on a rotational basis
  • Weekend hours required as determined by the facility
  • No on-call requirements
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact RN license
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start (candidates may be considered without it if obtained before the start date)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent telemetry experience in an inpatient setting
  • Experience and competence in drug titration required
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
  • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
  • Role requires significant standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance; ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and pinch up to 15 lbs
  • High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidates must be available for the full orientation week
  • Black scrubs are required; no other scrub colors are acceptable
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
  • Up to 5 days of RTO may be requested but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week of the assignment
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for the position but are subject to a reduced bill rate
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility; after that, they must either separate from the facility for a minimum of 1 year or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
  • The facility holds a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center designation and is a Level 2 Stroke Center
