Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Telemetry. The role provides care for acute cardiac medical and surgical patients, including post-procedural and post-cardiac surgery populations. Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, management of titratable medications, and care for patients with chest pain, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and other cardiac conditions.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA); active nursing license; minimum of 2 years of recent registered nurse experience in a busy hospital environment; experience caring for post-procedural cardiac catheterization patients and post-cardiac surgical patients; proficiency managing transradial band compression devices and chest pain; ability to titrate nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, furosemide, bumetanide, and dobutamine infusions.
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 48 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday.
- Additional Information: The position provides care for cardiac medical and surgical patients, including those recovering from stent placement, pacemaker or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator procedures, left atrial appendage closure, mitral valve procedures, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, coronary artery bypass grafting, and valve replacement. The care team supports patients with atrial fibrillation, chest pain, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, syncope, bradycardia, and temporary pacemakers. A central telemetry unit monitors non-critical care patients. Respiratory therapy support is available around the clock for nebulizers, inhalers, continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, and high-flow oxygen therapy. The registered nurse is responsible for incentive spirometry. Orientation includes one shift of onboarding and one shift on the unit.
