Job Details

  • Location: Not specified, working in a general medical unit with telemetry monitoring capabilities.
  • Required Qualifications: RN licensure, BLS (American Heart Association) certification, 2 years of relevant nursing experience, current IL license or confirmation of application process initiation.
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • Additional Information: Role includes float to other general medical units, with responsibilities including trouble-shooting Cpap and Bipap devices (if used as part of home regimen) and reading Phillips telemetry monitors. Nurses must be capable of interpreting ECG strips and titrating critical medication drips such as Cardizem and heparin. Typical patient ratios are 1:4-6, depending on the time of shift, with patient populations including MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, and post-surgical lung patients. Unit staff includes charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists.
