Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Tele Unit night shift position requiring compact or PA RN license, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Details
- Work in the 3W Stepdown unit, a 28-bed private room acute care unit
- Patient ratios of 1:4-5, or 1:6 for MedSurg acuity patients
- Serves as the central telemetry monitoring station for the whole hospital
- EMR transitioning from Cerner to EPIC
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7:30a
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend, Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights
- Floating to the ICU as helping hands may be required
- In-house 24/7 Hospitalist, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy support
- Intensivist coverage in the ICU 7 days/week from 7a-7p with on-call after hours
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or PA license required)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Must be able to titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin
- Experience with vent support including Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow
- Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Care for a heavy cardiac patient population including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from the ICU
- No IV team available, but ICU charge nurses or Director can assist with difficult IV sticks
- 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
- Nurse Aide support available during day and mid shifts, no CNA coverage after 11p on nights
- Holiday coverage required every other holiday as part of the staff rotation
- Scrub color required: Navy Blue, including jackets if worn
- Director is noted for strong communication with staff and allows block scheduling
- Radius rule: candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rate
- Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than a year without taking a 2-year break
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
