Description
American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Telemetry RN for a night shift acute care position requiring CA licensure, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Details
- Acute care Neuro Tele unit (4West) at a Level 2 trauma facility with 22 beds
- Patient population includes stroke, TIA, seizure, TBI, and mixed med tele diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Central telemetry monitoring with GE Apex Telemetry boxes and dedicated monitor techs; nurses must read and interpret strips
- 12-hour night shifts, self-scheduling by seniority, no block scheduling
- Weekend requirement of Fri/Sat nights, 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to IMCU (2West) or Med/Surg departments, first to float
- Unit supported by a Nurse Shift Manager, a Resource/Break RN, and 1-2 Unit Aides
- Respiratory equipment on unit includes BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC; no ventilators
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- COVID vaccine required
- 2-3 years of recent experience in telemetry nursing required
- Must be able to pass a dysrhythmia exam
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Participate in Bedside Shift Report practices with a strong focus on patient experience, HCAHPS scores, and core stroke measures
- One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
- Navy scrub color required
- Holiday coverage required as part of the staff holiday rotation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and Dignity Health) within the past year
- Unit described as very busy, typically operating at full capacity of 22 patients
