Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a Surgical/Cardiac Med-Surg night shift role requiring 1 year of tele experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Surgical/Cardiac Med-Surg unit with 32 beds
• Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week assignment
• Weekend hours as required by facility
• No call requirements
• Patient ratios vary by shift: days 1:5-1:6, nights 1:6-1:8
• Uses Alaris pumps, telemetry monitoring, and lift equipment
• EPIC EMR used
• Floats on a rotational basis
• Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or compact)
• BLS certification from AHA required
• 4 trauma credits required, or must be completed within first two weeks of start
• NIHSS certification required, may start without but must obtain prior to start date
• ACLS from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
• Experience and competence in drug titration required
• Trauma experience preferred
• Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) required November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for post-trauma, surgical, and medically complex patients using the nursing process
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments and other caregivers
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality
• Requires standing and walking most of shift, with frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, and minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Black scrubs required; torn clothing and open-toed shoes not permitted
• RTO requests must be made up during the assignment and are not approved during the first week
• Up to 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced bill rate if within 50 miles of the facility
• Facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
