Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of applicable experience License: IEMA License in Radiology Technology Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ARRT Registration in Radiology Must-Have: - Knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy, and physiology. - Knowledge and competency in moderate sedation administration. - Ability to recognize and assist in treatment of complications arising from cardiac/vascular procedures. - Proficient in sterile table setup and patient preparation. - Advanced knowledge of EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition. Description: To assist Cardiologists in performing invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac/vascular and electrophysiologic procedures. Providing care to meet patient needs and handle other duties as required. To assist cardiologists in performing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using specific techniques. To set up and operate various electrical/imaging equipment and computers. Displays good judgment and problem-solving skills. Displays the ability to organize and prioritize performance based on procedural findings. Advocates for patient's needs. Performs hemodynamic and procedural results/outcome interpretation. Selects and operates procedural supplies/equipment based on findings. Operates both monophasic and biphasic defibrillators. Effectively communicates and educates patients during procedures to alleviate anxiety. Recognizes and assists with any anesthesia needs for deeply sedated or anesthetized patients. Collaborates with team members and other health care providers in planning patient care specific to procedures performed. Assumes accountability for patient care and directs team members as necessary. Exhibits excellence in communication skills to effectively train and mentor team members. Interacts appropriately and professionally with various vendors to ensure patient safety. Updates knowledge and skills as new equipment is implemented. Checks and evaluates equipment daily to ensure performance and safety. Manages digital archiving system ensuring safe storage of patient images and reports. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of any malfunctioning equipment. Reports any equipment or supply defects to ensure patient safety. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to troubleshoot any equipment. Demonstrates the ability to query archived images and create CDs for patient information transmission. Provides care to patients undergoing invasive procedures in accordance with guidelines and standards. Reports significant observations and documents care provided. Maintains a working knowledge of aseptic technique. Assists in passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and other devices as required. Prepares instruments for sterilization. Suggests changes to equipment or procedures for quality patient care. Prepares sterile fields. Observes for deviations from proper aseptic technique and has them corrected. Accurately interprets EKG and alerts physician of any irregular activity.
