Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours (4x10 hr shifts) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of applicable experience License: - IEMA (Illinois state) License in Rad Technology Certifications: - BLS (American Heart Association) - ACLS (American Heart Association) - ARRT Registration in Radiology Must-Have: - Knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy and physiology - Knowledge and competency in moderate sedation administration and policy protocol - Ability to set up sterile table with appropriate supplies Description: To assist Cardiologists in performing invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac and vascular procedures. Provide technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques. Deliver care to meet patient needs and handle other duties as required and assigned. Assist in performing invasive coronary, vascular, and electrophysiologic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Set up and operate a variety of electrical and imaging equipment and computers. Exhibit good judgement and problem-solving skills. Organize and prioritize performance based on procedural findings. Advocate for patients' needs. Interpret hemodynamic and procedural results. Select and operate procedural supplies and equipment based on findings. Operate monophasic and biphasic defibrillators. Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety during procedures. Recognize and assist with anesthesia needs for deeply sedated or anesthetized patients. Collaborate with Research RN/Coordinator in laboratory-based research. Maintain excellence in communication skills to interact with physicians for optimal patient outcomes. Collaborate with team members in planning patient care specific to procedures. Assume accountability for patient care and direct team members to achieve optimal outcomes. Train and mentor team members effectively. Engage professionally with various vendors to ensure patient safety. Update knowledge and skills as equipment changes are implemented. Check and evaluate equipment for performance and safety daily. Manage digital archiving system for safe storage of patient images and reports. Notify appropriate personnel and remove malfunctioning equipment promptly. Report equipment or supply malfunctions to ensure patient safety. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to troubleshoot equipment. Query archived images from deep archive storage. Create CDs to facilitate transmission of patient information. Provide care during coronary invasive procedures using guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of care. Report significant observations and document care provided. Maintain a working knowledge of aseptic technique. Assist in passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and other devices using aseptic technique. Prepare instruments for sterilization. Suggest equipment changes for quality patient care. Prepare the sterile field effectively. Observe and correct deviations from aseptic technique by others. Interpret EKG accurately and alert physicians of any irregular activity.
