Description:
The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible for scrubbing in surgically and assisting with equipment.
They assist with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment.
They prepare the room and equipment and transport and monitor patients.
They may handle medications according to specific responsibilities.
Essential functions include:
Assisting physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostics, and interventional therapies.
Preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures.
Circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms.
Monitoring patient's ECG and vital signs while in the Catheterization Lab.
Notifying physicians of variances and providing emergency procedures as needed.
Performing pre- and post-procedure care, orienting patients for special procedures, and answering related questions to ensure patient comfort.
Transporting patients to and from the procedural area.
Communicating relevant medical information through required documentation.
Recording, entering into data systems, and calculating catheterization data and gradients.
Following radiation protection regulations for patients and staff.
Maintaining inventory and ordering procedure room supplies.
Ensuring procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.
Key success factors include the ability to multi-task, self-lead problem-solving skills, precision, and flexibility in execution.
Knowledge and application of complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques is essential.
Demonstrating commitment to effective customer service delivery and integrity is required.
The ability to work productively as a member of a team or workgroup is fundamental.
