Description:
The Polysomnographic Technologist Analyst will possess a solid knowledge base in the clinical application of polysomnographic studies.
Under the direction of the Medical Director or designee and the Manager, the technologist performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis.
This involves polysomnography, diagnosis and therapeutic services, or patient care and education.
The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist will be responsible for the timely analysis of polysomnographic studies.
They will generate concise, detailed summary reports for review by the Medical Staff for confirmation of diagnosis.
This role will also require the performance of daytime polysomnographic procedures, including PSG for third shift workers, MSLT, and MWT.
Home sleep test preparation and education will also be a direct responsibility of the employee.
The RPSGT will aid in the ordering of supplies and equipment maintenance.
This position may also require training and oversight of staff.
The technologist will serve as a resource to our providers during clinic hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet specific needs.
- Complete and verify documentation.
- Explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to the patient.
- Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning.
- Prepare home sleep testing equipment for patient use and educate patients on equipment use.
- Apply electrodes and sensors for in-lab studies according to accepted standards.
- Perform appropriate physiologic calibration to ensure proper signals and adjust if necessary.
- Perform positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
- Clean and maintain all equipment.
- Follow procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data.
- Establish and document baseline values during testing.
- Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study tracing quality.
- Document routine observations and significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of results.
- Implement appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic needs.
- Verify the integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age-specific care and treatment.
- Perform difficult procedures and therapeutic interventions as required.
