Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician- Process and maintain proper care of surgical instruments and equipment, scopes, and powered instruments
- Inspect, evaluate, clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments
- Maintain quality control and documentation records of the sterilization process
- Distribute designated supplies and equipment throughout the medical center
- Perform assembly, sterilization, wrapping, decontamination, and instrument inspection
- High-level disinfection and sterilization using steam and low temp (Vrpo) methods
- Utilize SPM Tracking system for sterilization management
- Routinely float between decontamination, assembly, and sterilization departments
Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician- Possess CRCST or CBSPD certification
- Experience with a wide variety of instruments for different service lines
- Experience with the SPM Tracking system is mandatory
