Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart specialist in Reston. This position involves providing advanced perioperative care for patients undergoing open heart procedures, with a focus on teamwork, sterile technique, and specialized equipment setup. The role requires proactive planning and adept communication to support complex cardiovascular surgeries in a busy surgical unit.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred; active BLS certification; valid licensure as an RN; no minimum years of experience specified; located in or willing to commute to Reston.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with open heart procedures such as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABG s), Mechanical Valve Replacements (MVR), Tricuspid Valve Replacements (TVR), Aortic Valve Replacements (AVR), Vats, and vascular procedures; sterile technique proficiency; central line set up; arterial line set up; Belmont equipment operation; cell saver setup; scrub or circulate procedures experience.
- Additional Information: Float to main operating rooms may be required. Candidates should demonstrate forward thinking, teamwork, excellent communication skills, and proactive problem resolution. The unit utilizes Meditech Expanse documentation system and has specific scheduling and staffing protocols, including RN and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) shifts. Candidates are encouraged to highlight experience with new equipment or technology, the staff's tenure, and schedule flexibility in their application.
