Job Summary
ORT (Operating Room Technician) for a short-term acute care facility, this position involves supporting all adult surgical specialties with a focus on advanced oncology cases. The role requires float between units, adherence to on-call requirements, and working evening shifts from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with potential weekend shifts. The technician must be certified as a surgical technologist or have military training.
Job Details
- Schedule: Shift hours are 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certification as a surgical technologist or military-trained, valid state license (compact license preferred), at least 1 year of surgical or operating room experience, two years of experience preferred, experience in adult acute care OR, experience with advanced oncology surgical cases, must have broad knowledge of surgical equipment, and certification in BLS, NBSTSA, and ASATT.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma Level I or II facilities, experience with a variety of surgical procedures listed, familiarity with Epic charting system, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- On-Call & Weekend Requirements: 16 hours weekday standby shifts in 4-hour or 8-hour blocks, 24 hours weekend standby (two 12-hour shifts) every four weeks, with an expectation to work weekend shifts as needed to meet department needs.
- Special Procedures/Unit Details: Support adult specialties including bariatrics, orthopedics, neuro, ENT, gynecology, general surgery, and more; excludes open heart and organ transplant cases.
- Additional Information: Must be prepared for adult outpatient surgical procedures, with required broad knowledge of surgical equipment and systems such as Da Vinci Robotics SI & Xi. Position begins on 10/05/2026 and ends on 01/04/2027. Candidates should include any scheduled time off with their application for prior approval.
