Job Summary
Sterile Processing Technician in Naperville, Illinois. Job Details
- Schedule: Nights, with 8-hour shift hours and a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certification as a sterile processing technician (CRCST or CBSPDT), at least 3 years of experience in sterile processing technology, including 1 successful travel contract, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance, staff education, or supervisory responsibilities. Knowledge of AAMI, Joint Commission, and Infection Prevention standards, with proficiency in Epic or similar electronic health record systems.
- Responsibilities: Monitor SPD workflow, quality, and daily operations. Conduct daily process and quality tray audits and document results. Oversee staff competencies, provide training, coaching, and re-education. Train new hires and support annual competency assessments. Maintain accurate quality and event reporting, including internal and external quality events. Demonstrate proficiency with instrument tracking systems and ensure audits are documented for traceability. Monitor routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues. Follow SPD policies, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), and load-failure procedures. Promote compliance with industry standards. Support process improvements to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency. Communicate effectively with Site Management, Supervisors, and Quality/Education leadership. Submit detailed daily reports and respond promptly to communications. Attend meetings and support ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Additional Information: No weekend, on-call, or holiday requirements. Orientation consists of 6 hours of billable time and 3 hours non-billable. Credentials are due Thursday before start date. The position involves virtual group interviews via Teams. Payroll is biweekly.
